My very first post

It's tough to think of what to write about for the very first time. It's perhaps important to keep the blog focused on financial planning matters. I'll be updating it on a regular basis with regards to anything which may be of any concern with regards to investments and life insurance. Let me introduce myself. I'm Daryl Lum. I've been in the financial advisory business for the better part of four years. Currently I'm taking a sabbatical to have some well deserved rest. I've not had a break since I graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005. It's been one hell of a fun ride and now it's time to take stock of what is ahead and refocus. I'll be pursueing my accreditation in this industry namely the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) which is issued by the Financial Planning Association of Singapore. It is not mandatory but personally I feel that this will put me in good stead for the longer haul in the years ahead. My interests include exercising, namely cycling and of course investments. Which I still veer very heavily towards real estate. I believe that investing in a good real estate is very crucial and perhaps the current downturn will serve as a good time for potential investors to enter the market. Recently I've taken a keen interest in the US stock market and with some really stable and reputable companies at really low prices, investors should seriously think about placing money into the market. I'm not that bullish about the Singapore market though. I personally feel that though companies in Singapore are solvent and stable, there seems to be too much external factors which could weigh down on the local economy and I fear for the future of the local job market. That all said and done, may this blog be an enjoyable read to one and all! Cheers!
